Forged to conquer dirt tracks, gravel roads and long stretches of tarmac with equal poise, the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure R redefines the notion of "lightweight adventure."

At a claimed 165 kg (364 lb) dry weight, this compact 399cc single-cylinder machine delivers sprightly performance and nimble handling that many larger adventure bikes simply can’t match.


Powered by the all-new LC4c 398.7 cc single-cylinder DOHC engine, it produces 33 kW (˜44 hp) and 39 Nm of torque—figures modest in the context of big adventure bikes, but perfectly aligned with an agile, fun-to-ride machine built for versatility.


But the real magic lies in its off-road geometry and hardware: the steel trellis frame is paired with bolt-on subframe, and sport-tuned for mixed terrain.

The 43 mm WP APEX open-cartridge fork up front, and the WP APEX split-piston shock at the rear, both deliver 230 mm (9.1 in) of travel ensuring, the 390 Adventure R remains composed when things get rough under wheel.


Wheels?

Big advantage here: a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheel set (tube-type) mounted with off-road oriented tyres give this machine serious capability off the beaten path.
Combined with the lofty 870 mm (34.3 in) seat height and claimed 272 mm (10.7 in) ground clearance, this bike is very much built to wander where pavement ends.


In terms of electronics and road-versatility, the 390 Adventure R punches above its size: ride-by-wire throttle, three ride-modes (Street, Rain, Off-road), switchable ABS (including off-road mode) and lean-sensitive traction control round out a feature list usually found on much larger machines.
